Fall Fluff – Up

Decorating for the seasons and / or holidays is not one of my strengths. Okay, let me rephrase that. Cleaning up the decorations that I have put up for the seasons and / or holidays is not one of my strengths. I have definitely had Christmas decorations up until February on more than one occasion. So that has led me to really simplify my decorating. Oh, and also the fact that until recently, I have had a little wrecker in my house. Really, we call her Cora the Destroyer. Hahaha. But since she will be turning three at the end of this month (sniff sniff) and has a little more self control, I’ve decided to put a little bit more effort into making my house look a bit more celebratory. Here’s what I came up with.

Not too complicated, but I think it does the trick. The chalkboard is actually a dry erase board I found on the street during bulk trash pickup in my neighborhood treated with my favorite chalkboard paint! Some old jelly jars wrapped in burlap and raffia with some tree branches completed the setup.
I also wanted to include the little girlies in the festivities, so we got some inspiration from Mandy’s scrap paper easter banner and made a fall banner. Image may be NSFW.

To make it a a bit more fall – ish, I used a maple leaf paper punch, but just ripping the paper, or cutting small shapes would work just fine. Check out Mandy’s post for all the specifics on making this cute banner…

I thought it was a little boring by itself, so I added some raffia and some sunflowers to the mini clothespins. Image may be NSFW.

Here are some more shots of the finished product. I’m pretty proud of myself for actually doing some seasonal decorating! Now, feel free to take bets on whether or not I will actually get it put away before Valentines Day…
